Natural History:

Lifespan—

Not very long, most of them don’t reach 100 years.

General Description—

These very fast-growing trees are susceptible to the elements; these trees are more popular in the presence of rural areas due to how they can tolerate the cold conditions and droughts. What is very interesting about this unique tree is that it is the only North American maple tree with compound leaves.

Natural distribution and habitat—

Native to central and eastern US, where they are usually found.

Conservation status—

These drought-resistant trees can grow in most places, so no serious threats.

Uses—

Used as ornamental trees and to make basic wooden products. Can also be used to make maple syrup and sugar. Wildlife eats their seeds.
