Special Considerations

Consider the following to determine if this course is right for you:

Free time/Independence: low
Physical Demands: moderate
Transitions: high
Stimuli: high

See details below.

  • Students in this program will spend one week at our Putney, VT, campus and one week in Florida.

While on campus, students will live in campus housing, eat at the dining hall, and follow a regular schedule of class sessions. Classes may include excursions to local sites of interest and/or some outdoor physical activities such as walking or snowshoeing.

Please refer to the following for an understanding of the pace and demands of the Florida portion of the trip:

Free time/Independence: Moderate. While in Florida, the group will have structured activities almost every day. There will be some free time each day and at least a half-day completely free.

Physical Demands: High. The trip will include time outdoors every day. This may include activities such as walking, kayaking, swimming/snorkeling, and exploration of natural sites.

Transitions: Moderate. While in Florida, accommodations for this trip will be centrally located to allow for numerous day trips. Students should expect lots of daily transitions, but will return to their accommodations at the end of the day.

Stimuli: High. Southern Florida in January may be hot and muggy. There will be many new things to see and do. However, there will be opportunities for students to rest and recharge, and program leaders are available for support.
