Professional Development Facilitator—LCIRT

Landmark is seeking experienced individuals to form a pool for part-time, as needed, staff positions of PD Facilitator within the Landmark College Institute for Research and Training (LCIRT).

LCIRT offers a variety of professional development (PD) training offerings to schools, corporations, and government organizations centered on how faculty and staff can support neurodivergent learners, including those with learning disabilities, ADHD, and/or autism. PD offerings combine research findings and best practices from the fields of neurodiversity, education, psychology, and disability studies with concrete, applicable strategies and approaches participants can implement with their students and clients.

PD Facilitators are needed to provide PD presentations in service of LCIRT to meet client needs in the event other LCIRT staff are unable to due to scheduling conflicts. The PD Facilitator is responsible for the planning and development of PD presentations (primarily using existing LCIRT materials) in coordination with the Assistant Director for Professional Development. Materials and delivery will be in accordance with contractual obligations, as agreed upon between LCIRT/Landmark College and the client. This includes working with LCIRT staff to clarify client needs ahead of time and evaluating the effectiveness of the PD session(s).

Delivery of presentations should be done in a manner that maximizes effectiveness and utilization of resources and maintains the College’s reputation for excellence in the field of education. Delivery of trainings may occur in face-to-face settings or via eLearning and/or video conferencing platforms (although it is expected the need will most often support on-site trainings). This position reports to the Assistant Director of Professional Development.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with LCIRT and client to set expectations.
  • Assist LCIRT with edits and comments on client proposals.
  • Utilizing existing LCIRT materials (such as handouts and PowerPoint decks) as a starting point, develop relevant and accurate event content in accordance with established learning goals.
  • Deliver in-person presentations workshops: half-day, full-day, or multiple day sessions in a manner that is inclusive, accessible, and engaging.
  • Share materials with the client ahead of the event to facilitate inclusive and accessible practices.
  • Communicate with clients to finalize all event details and logistics.
  • Coordinate with LCIRT and client regarding travel and accommodations logistics for presentation.
  • Solicit event feedback to be reviewed by the LCIRT team.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of research, trends, and major topics in the field of neurodiversity, learning disabilities, and related subjects.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a master’s degree, or higher, in education, psychology, or related field. Extensive background knowledge of neurodiversity and neurodivergence, including learning disabilities (e.g., dyslexia), autism, and ADHD.
  • Expertise in effective instructional practices for supporting neurodivergent students at the secondary and post-secondary levels, most notably universal design for instruction and teaming.
  • Knowledge of Landmark College’s collective expertise and experience to disseminate this information to professionals from outside organizations and educational institutions.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills are essential; must be an engaging and skilled presenter with the ability to create interactive trainings and adapt on the fly in response to audience needs.
  • Grasp of best practices in delivering professional development and andragogy.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (including outside of typical business hours) is critical; a flexible schedule is desired.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability to manage travel expenses accurately and effectively.

Compensation:
The stipend for this position is dependent on presentation and travel length; the stipend for a day trip is $1000, an overnight trip is $1,500, and a three-day trip is $2,000. Trip lengths are defined as:

  • Day trip: Can drive to site and back in a single day with no overnight accommodations needed (e.g., presentation in western Mass.)
  • Overnight trip: Requires an overnight (typically the night before), but can fly or drive back the same day as presentation (e.g., presentation in D.C.)
  • Three-day trip; Requires two overnights, before + after presentation; not possible (w/o redeye flight) to get back on day of presentation (e.g., one day workshop in California)
