Surprising elephants
Yesterday the group split up into 2 groups in order to facilitate getting deeper into the delta. On our way back to camp half of us came upon a herd of elephant with several very young ones. At first a single courious adolescent appeared from an outcropping of trees. Then gradually more and more elephants appeared. From the other side of the trees the large female appeared and began moving towards our game viewer. As she began charging our vehicle moved swiftly. I counted 13, others in the group thought even more. James, our driver thought there to be 18 or so, with one being very young. He estimated less than a month old.
This morning our group is off at 6am to meet up with the other group.
