Mokoro Trip in the Okavango Delta

After class in the morning, off we went in the game viewers to meet mokoro polers for a majestic trip on the water through reeds and water lilies to view hippos. Originally, mokoro were made by carving out the trunk of a tree, and they provide the traditional mode of transportation around the waters of the Okaango Delta. Now they are made of fiberglass. The poler “captains” the mokorro while balancing and using a pole to push the mokoro through the water. Estimates are that there were up to 15 hippos although all were not visible at the same time. Stay tuned for lion photos which should be coming soon.
