A Day in York
Our day in York began with a visit to the Jorvik Viking Center where we met this handsome fellow.
After that the group split up and explored independently. Some went to the York Tower, York Abbey, and York Minster.

Students learned from exploring dioramas, speaking with guides and observing artifacts.
Mackenzie examines a model of Londondinium, Scott and Andrew learn what bones can tell us about demographics, Ellen and Andrew locate the castel wall from the top of the tower and then learn the importance of Viking locks.
"During the Viking Age a lock represents wealth and status. Only the women held the key to the lock because often their husbands would be off at war and many lived by themselves."
Some of us completed the day with a typical British cream tea at the famous Betty's Tea Room and then a walk back to the train station under the trees with dripping lights. It was enchanting.
