Welcome to Putney!

Virtual Accepted Student Week Banner

We wish we could be giving you this welcome in person! But as is the Landmark College way, we have a solution that meets the needs in front of us! In this case, it means bringing our community to your screen!

Our quaint college town, situated in the heart of southern Vermont, has so much to offer, from local hospitality to incredible outdoor adventures! So, sit back and take a scroll through our top five favorite things about our charming community:

  1. The Warm Welcome: As soon as you enter Putney, you’ll know what we mean. From the local artisans like Next Stage Art Project to our friends at the Putney General store—our safe and inviting community welcomes visitors and takes care of our own. No matter where you go, you’ll be greeted by smiling faces and locals who want to help you feel at home!
  2. The Great Outdoors: We are sure it comes as no surprise, but our campus is surrounded by incredible mountains, lakes, forests, and paths that allow for four seasons of outdoor adventures. So, whether you want to hit the slopes, enjoy some apple picking, take a hike, or just enjoy a scenic picnic, we’ve got you covered.
  3. Local Eats: Just minutes from Brattleboro, our students and families love to get a taste of the local flavor. Many of our local restaurants are world class and take advantage of local produce and meats to bring a farm-to-table experience that is truly drool worthy! A few of our personal favorites: The Gleanery, Duo, Putney Diner, Echo, Hazel’s, Putney Co-op, Peter Havens, and TJ Buckley’s
  4. Arts & Entertainment: From local art fairs to wine tasting we have something fun for people of all ages! Our students love that they can walk into town or take advantage of our shuttle services for trips to local area attractions.
  5. Location, Location, Location: As we hope you have gleaned—we love our local community more than anything! But we also appreciate the proximity to some of the world’s best metropolitan areas! Just a few hours’ drive from both Boston and NYC, our students can take advantage of organized trips, plan their own adventures, and capitalize on great internships and cultural events offered by these incredible cities!

Of course, these are just a handful of things to love about life in Putney! We encourage you to explore the area virtually until you can join us for an in person visit!
