Celebrating Black History Month

Dear Landmark College community,

As we enter Black History Month, I hope we can unite as a community to celebrate a month dedicated to educators, inventors, motivators, and dream chasers. It is important to remember that Black History is American history. This month provides us with the chance to learn and relearn about the impactful individuals who have inspired and impacted the world.

History teaches us about how far we have come and the sacrifices that have been made which allow us to stand tall and proclaim things like "I am the Greatest" (Muhammad Ali) and to let freedom ring (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.).

As Director of the Centers for Diversity and Inclusion, I want to emphasize the significance of this month. As a community that understands the challenges of being neurodiverse, we also understand what it is like to be mistreated and not heard. Take time to explore a book, watch a movie, or come visit the Centers for Diversity and Inclusion.

Let us embrace Black History Month together. No matter the obstacles, Harriet Tubman and other great Black leaders didn’t allow anything to stop them, so let's not allow anything to stop us.

We rise when we look at history, and stand strong together when we allow ourselves to feel and connect to it.

Thank You
