The Employment Readiness Experience (ERE)
Connecting Classroom and Career
Landmark’s Employment Readiness Experience (ERE) offers a semester experience focused on professional career development skills. The ERE is a building block to get students one step closer to a full internship or job after Landmark. Students will enroll in our specifically designed course and spend time working in an office on campus. Students will be paid for their work and receive three credits for course work. Time in class will allow students to explore and examine their work experience, while learning skills needed to be successful in the workplace.
Spring 2027 Program Details
Academic Course: BUS 1300 (3 Credits)
The course focuses on having students understand professional skills and how they can be developed and implemented in the workplace, while also giving students an opportunity to explore their career values, articulate current work experiences for future employment, and carry out future job searches independently. Students will engage in independent reflection, case studies, group activities, and discussions to learn course material, and will actively apply new skills learned in the classroom to their concurrent employment experience. Textbook required: M-PLOY A Job Readiness Workbook by McManmon, Kolarik & Ramsay. This course fulfills the ALTERNATIVE EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT.
The Job
Students are placed in a Landmark College department or office such as Campus Safety, Academic Affairs, Health Services, the library, the Drake Center, IT Help Desk, and Career Services. Students will have a job description, responsibilities, and a final performance review. Students have a supervisor from the office and are expected to use our payroll system to record their once a week 2-3 hour shift.
