First excursion on Skye at the Fairy Pools

We had planned to take a hike to Camasunary bay near Elgol in the southern part of the island today, but the weather did not cooperate. A cold front had moved across the British isles, and it brought with it some steady rain and gusts of wind. Rather than adhere to our original plan, therefore, we decided to take a walk through the Fairy Pools instead. The path through the fairy pools, an area marked by a string of waterfalls and deep, clear pools that take on a mystical quality when reflected in the light, runs up the sides of a steep gully with views of the Cuillin mountain. It can be a tranquil spot on a clear, sunny day, but this was not what we encountered on this particular visit. Some of the paths were almost impassable due to the torrents of water gushing across the trails. Undeterred by the weather, Bryce and Krzysztof decided to take a swim while the rest of the group were content to concentrate on navigating the rough terrain and taking in the spectacular scenery.
