Westminster Abbey and Portobello Road

Post submitted by student Emily Bartlett

On Friday, we started off our quite eventful day on the tube and met our guide at the St. James Park station where we proceeded on a walking tour for two and a half hours. There were several landmarks pointed out to us, from the headquarters of the Conservative Party to the Prime Minister’s house. This view of Westminster Abby shows the ten twentieth century Christian martyrs.

One student said of the day, “I really enjoyed the tour. The tour guide was a little hard to follow at times, but that didn’t take away the amazing experience I had and I really enjoyed how we ended with the Prime Minister’s house, and the Hors Guards.” As someone who is an equine lover herself, I especially agree with that statement. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see London.

On Saturday, we were once again, on a guided walking tour through the Palace of Westminster the seat of the British Parliament. We saw the Queen’s Robing Room and the individual chambers of the House of Lords (red seats) and House of Commons. Some of us were still up for more adventure, so we took the Underground to Notting HIll and strolled and shopped on the Portobello Road.
