Week Two: Schools and the Sea
Students visited two more Dutch schools early this week: a typical high school (Visser 't Hooft) and an elementary school (Joppensz Basicschool). It was rewarding to see the students interact with the Dutch high school students and observe the younger students. In class, students are researching specific levels of Dutch education for a panel discussion next week.
To drink up more Dutch culture, yesterday we ventured to Madorudam, a magnificent 'mini-Holland' park. Students enjoyed towering over the small Dutch villages, weighing themselves in cheese wheels, and learning about how the Dutch have managed the sea and water over the centuries. After that, we took a tram to the beach district of The Hague: Scheveningen. Several brave students dipped into the North Sea.
