Week Three: The Hague and Interviews

This past weekend was filled with local markets and an optional day trip to The Hague on Sunday. A few students joined me to see the heart of Dutch politics, Golden Age art, and try some herring.

It's nice to see the students find their way comfortably around our base city, Leiden.  Everyone has found their favorite grocery shops and restaurants. Academically, the program comes to a big close this week. This morning Ann held class in our lovely residential courtyard. Students prepared to discuss their assigned level of Dutch education in panels. Later today and tomorrow, all students will find their way to various locations to interview a Dutch person about her/his career and the education that prepared them.

We will finish this week with a trip to Katwijk beach (hopefully our luck with warm sun will last through Wednesday). Students are working to finish an essay and finally they will present on Friday about their Dutch interviews. Most everyone heads to the airport on Saturday to head home.
