Landmark's Berlin Study Abroad Last Weekend in Berlin

It's Monday morning here, and students are back from a great variety of adventures and experiences over the weekend.  Here are some of the things people did:

  • 9 students went on a 2 1/2 hour riverboat cruise on the River Spree
  • 10 students went to the Charlottenburg Palace and Gardens
  • Several students went to a giant "Maker" fair
  • Several students went to the Museum Island
  • One student flew to Munich to visit with relatives, and made a trip into Austria
  • Everyone did laundry and continued to expand our range of restaurants, places to walk, etc.

The academic focus this week is on the memorialization of the war, with Brian asking students to cast an analytic eye on how the memorials we visit are depicting the information.   We will be visiting the Holocaust Memorial, the memorial to Homosexuals, the memorial to the Sinta/Roma, and others.  On Wednesday we have an appointment to go into the Parliament Building (Reichstag).
