First couple days in London
Our students arrived yesterday and we began the day with a Full English Breakfast then traveled by London Underground to Westminster where we walked over the bridge to the London Eye. The half-hour long cantilevered observation wheel on the South bank of the Thames River gave us an overview of the city and we were able to point out several iconic structures: Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, the MI6 Building, the Shard, the Gherkin and St. Paul’s Cathedral.
We returned to our hotel and the students settled into their room. We completed the day with a traditional Sunday roast in a local Pub.
On Monday, some of us went to see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace before our afternoon lecture on Roman Britain. After the lecture, we were on the move again visiting some of the famous and famously free museums: The Science Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and The Natural History Museum.
