Student Radio Station Nominated for Six Awards, Including Best Overall
Landmark College’s student-operated internet radio station WLMC announced it has received six award nominations from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS), including “Best Streaming Radio Station (under 10,000 students)."
This marks the fifth consecutive year that WLMC has been nominated for the top honor. The station won the award in 2022 and 2023. Other award nominations include:
- Best Specialty Music Show: student Charles Karwowski for Chi-Tunes Radio
- Best Press Release
- Best Sports Interview: student Josh Sampaio’s interview with Men’s Basketball Head Coach Marc Thurman
- Best Student Station Manager: Owain Lucas
- Best Staff Member (Non-Management), Radio: Macy Scheldberg
Station Manager and Landmark College student Owain Lucas expressed his gratitude for the College and his colleagues at the station in a written statement.
“This not only represents the effort of these students and their accomplishments, but all those that put effort into making the station what it is today,” said Lucas. “I could not have asked for a more supportive community to support us than right now. Our DJs work extremely hard every day, more than the average students, in order to do what they do best.”
Lucas added that members of WLMC plan to attend the IBS Media Awards at the Sheraton Times Square in New York City next February.
