LC Career Connections Office Highlighted by International Leader in Neuroinclusive Employment
The work of Landmark College's Career Connections department has been highlighted by Specialisterne, an international organization focused on creating employment opportunities for neurodivergent people. Specialisterne asked Senior Director of Career Connections Jan Coplan to write a blog post discussing the ways in which Landmark College works with both students and employers to place students in opportunities set up for success.
Coplan wrote that "much like our professors and learning specialists do academically, we ensure that every student receives personalized and scaffolded career support." As part of a new initiative on campus, that starts with ensuring that every student receives a dedicated career advisor, in addition to their personal academic advisor, who can work with them to make progress on goals for career development or graduate school admissions.
Coplan also highlighted her departments efforts to launch a neuroinclusive career fair series, the first of which will take place next week, featuring employers such ranging from EY, the State of Vermont, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, Stratton Mountain Resort, and more. In addition to providing networking opportunities between students and employers, employers will have access to training sessions on neuroinclusivity in the workplace.
Specialisterne is among the employers who will be attending the career fair, and shared that "when both sides of the hiring equation are supported with intention, we unlock the full potential of neurodiverse talent."
