The Landmark College Office of Career Connections held the spring iteration of their Neuroinclusive Career Fair last week, bringing 18 employers to campus to network with 178 Landmark College students and recent alumni who attended. Participating employers included the U.S. Department of State, the Town of Brattleboro, Stratton Mountain Resort, SAU 29, and more.
Before the Career Fair itself took place in the Click Family Sports Center, employers had access to an optional training focused on best practices for neuroinclusivity in the workplace. A total of 21 HR professionals and hiring managers attended the training offered by Senior Director of Career Connections Jan Coplan. "We are fortunate to work with so many employers who are committed to neuroinclusivity in hiring, onboarding, and other strong HR practices," said Coplan.
Anthony Pacilio, Chief Inclusion Officer at F-90 Solutions, said that the company was looking to identify "neurodiverse talent in the IT, cyber, AI, and risk compliance audit space." Pacilio added that when considering early-career hires, "we need them to be hungry to learn, and that's what Landmark students are."
Senior Manager of Human Resources at Stratton Mountain Resort, Leah Gokey, said that the company was attending the career fair with the hopes of filling openings in "lots of different, fields and opportunities–anything from IT to marketing, food and beverage, ski instructing, and lift attendants." Gokey added that the most important skill a candidate can possess "is to be a team player."
In addition to networking with employers, students had access to a photobooth for LinkedIn headshots, on-the-spot career counseling and insights from members of the Career Connections team, and low-sensory environments designed to reduce stimuli for students. Landmark College student Grace Nelson said that the career fair was "a good place to look for internships and opportunities" as she prepares to graduate next year.
