The Landmark College Running team found success last weekend at the 10th annual Lucy Mack 5K9 race in Brownsville, Vermont. The event is held annually to benefit the Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, with runners competing on the grounds of Ascutney Outdoors across a variety of distances. The Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society has operated in Brownsville for 110 years.
Landmark College student Jack Gawtry shined, winning the 5k race overall. This builds off his success earlier this September, when he came in first in his age group at the Springfield Dam Run 5k. LC Shark Sam Spinney was also very competitive in the men's 5k, finishing in third place.
In the women's races, Fionn Tierney - who was competing in her first ever race - won the women's 1 Mile event! Fellow Shark Zina Sagoo placed third in the women's 1 Mile. Claudia Sherman '25, who is now working at the College and assisting with the running team, claimed second place in the women's 5k.
