Landmark College has received grant funding from NEXT for AUTISM to support a new internship program in partnership with the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center.
The award will launch Career Connections at BMAC (CC@BMAC), an initiative designed to provide Landmark students with autism with immersive, supported internships in the museum and arts sector.
Beginning in the spring 2026 semester, cohorts of Landmark students will participate in 10-week internship sessions at BMAC, working three hours per week and rotating through key areas of museum operations, including education, curatorial work, and administration. The program will serve 10 students during its first year.
Through structured goal setting, reflection, and individualized support, students will gain firsthand exposure to careers in the arts while developing transferable workplace skills and greater confidence in professional settings.
As part of the grant, Landmark faculty will also provide neurodiversity training to BMAC staff, strengthening the museum’s capacity to create welcoming spaces and inclusive employment practices for autistic individuals. The collaboration is designed not only to support student career exploration, but also to build a sustainable framework for inclusive workforce partnerships in the cultural sector and beyond.
“NEXT for AUTISM’s investment allows us to deepen our commitment to meaningful career preparation for students with autism,” said Vice President of Marketing & Communications Christopher Lenois. “By partnering with a leading community institution like BMAC, we are creating authentic workplace experiences that recognize neurodiversity as a strength.”
The program will run through November 2026, with plans to evaluate outcomes and explore opportunities to expand similar partnerships into additional employment fields.
