Landmark College Partners with City Year

Landmark College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with City Year in the Fall of 2024, joining the organization’s University Partnerships program that offers unique benefits to its alumni, members, and staff.

City Year was founded in 1988 as a national service program to unite young adults for a demanding year of full-time community service. The organization currently has more than 3,000 members serving in 29 U.S. cities, as well as in South Africa and the UK.

The MOU calls for Landmark College to host as many as three City Year alumni, members, or staff each year. Scholarships equaling a tuition reduction of 25 percent will be awarded to City Year members and alumni who complete at least one term of service, or staff members employed for at least two years. City Year community members must be enrolled in a qualifying credential or undergraduate program to be eligible for the scholarship, as well as additional benefits including an application fee waiver and the option to defer enrollment by one year if the individual chooses to extend their City Year service.

“We know one of the reasons people volunteer with City Year is that they care about ensuring student success. As a college that serves bright neurodivergent students with learning differences like dyslexia, ADHD, or autism, we do, too,” says Landmark College Vice President for Enrollment Management Michael Stefanowicz. “Almost half of our students are transfers or have done a gap year. So, City Year members who have taken time away from traditional pathways to serve will fit right in.”
