Landmark College, the world’s foremost institution of higher education for neurodivergent learners, announced today that it has completed the purchase of two land parcels totaling 264 acres from the Nathaniel Hendricks Revocable Trust.
The parcels adjoin the east end of campus and stretch southward across River Road all the way down to the Connecticut River. The purchase includes a house and barn that was once the home of Walter Hendricks, who founded several colleges in the area, including Windham College, where the Landmark College campus is now.
Landmark College President Jim Dlugos, Ph.D., said that while the College is pleased with the purchase, there are no immediate plans for its use.
“The acquisition of this property gives us the capacity for future development at the College as part of its long-range planning,” said Dlugos, adding that the property includes 1,500 feet of frontage along River Road.
With this additional property, the total footprint of Landmark College is now approximately 400 acres.
Founded in 1985, Landmark College was the first college designed exclusively for students who learn differently, including students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, or executive function challenges. Today, the College offers associate and bachelor’s degrees, as well as short-term programs that help high school students make the transition to college.
The Putney campus is also home to the Landmark College Institute for Research and Training, which offers professional development opportunities to educators and employers working with neurodivergent individuals in a variety of online and in-person formats.
