Landmark College Professor of Education Rebecca Matte appeared on the Sept. 30, 2026, episode of The What and Who of EDU podcast, joining nine of her peers to discuss the topic of “Teaching Challenges No One Trained You For.”
Matte drew on her more than 30 years of experience teaching neurodivergent learners to share the challenge of teaching students who don’t know why they’re in college.
“The one thing that you’re really not taught how to work with is when a student feels like they have a lack of purpose or meaning for being there,” Matte shared on the episode. “‘I don’t know what makes me happy’ is the hardest, hardest thing to help them discover.”
