The American Chemical Society (ACS) has named Landmark College Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Christin Monroe as a 2025 Outreach Volunteer of the year for the Green Mountain Local Section.

Dr. Monroe (pictured above with a student) was recognized as a volunteer leader for her extensive work to make chemistry and the life sciences more accessible to all learners. Recently, Dr. Monroe led a field trip for neurodiverse learners to Newport, Vermont to observe the full solar eclipse in a designed low-sensory environment. Dr. Monroe said of the trip "after nearly a decade of participating in science outreach, I’d say this event was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had. I felt inspired watching my students demonstrate their science identities and resilience through outreach."

Dr. Monroe has also spearheaded celebrations of National Chemistry Week on campus, engaging students with interactive experiments. You can view their 2024 experiment below.

Please join Landmark College in celebrating Dr. Monroe and her exemplary service to neurodiverse learners!
