Publications Specialist

The Publications Specialist assists with planning, producing, and managing Landmark College’s print and digital publications. This role ensures high‑quality editorial standards, consistent visual identity, compliance with ADA-mandated guidelines for accessibility, and effective storytelling aligned with the College’s mission of serving neurodiverse learners.

Key Responsibilities

Print Publications

  • Assist with planning, content development, and production of major print materials (e.g., viewbooks, brochures, annual reports, magazines, newsletters, etc.).
  • Serve as primary editor and proofreader to ensure accuracy, clarity, tone consistency, and adherence to guidelines for branding and accessibility.
  • Coordinate workflow among writers, designers, photographers, and external vendors for semi-annual alumni publication. 

Digital Publications & Online Content

  • Take the lead in publishing and producing content for web pages, e-blasts, e-newsletters, social media posts, and PDF brochures, among other digital and online collateral.
  • Ensure all digital content meets branding and accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA compliance).
  • Adapt print content for digital platforms, ensuring accessibility and best practices for readability and SEO.
  • Manage email newsletter production, including editorial calendars, content selection, layout, and analytics review.

Editorial & Brand Stewardship

  • Maintain and evolve the College’s editorial standards, style guides, and brand voice.
  • Provide editorial support to internal departments for publications, major announcements, and special projects.
  • Review and approve print and digital content to ensure alignment with institutional messaging priorities.
  • Uphold inclusive and affirming language practices that support Landmark College’s student population.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in publications management, editorial work, or marketing/communications.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience managing print and digital publication workflows.
  • Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms, and digital publishing tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly with colleagues at all levels.

Preferred

  • Experience in higher education or nonprofit communications.
  • Knowledge of accessibility guidelines and inclusive‑language practices.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud or similar design tools.
  • Experience working with or supporting neurodiverse populations.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Standard office environment with hybrid work flexibility depending on College policies.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours for publications tied to major events or deadlines.

Compensation:

At Landmark College, our compensation philosophy reflects our institutional values, our commitment to fairness and equity, and our role as a transformative educational community. The compensation for the above position is $42,300-$63,500.
