College START Orientation

We're excited to welcome our students studying online!

This page and the links below will be your resource on the steps to take before your arrival and information about campus life at Landmark College.

Welcome to College START! We are looking forward to an exciting semester filled with enriching academic courses as well as opportunities for engagement through online social activities. We can’t wait to get to know you!

Online orientation for College START includes sessions for both students and families, and begins the Thursday before classes. The orientation schedule, along with links to join each session, will be sent to students and families about two weeks prior to the start of classes. If you have not yet received the schedule, please get in touch with your Admissions Counselor.

To support your strong connection to programming and community, the LC team has designed an orientation program to help you prepare for classes and to introduce you to your fellow online students. Important materials that you access on your own time include:

  • The Student Onboarding Portal: This portal contains important documents and activities for you to complete before classes begin. When you are accepted to Landmark you'll receive login credentials to access the Onboarding Portal.
  • New Student Orientation Course in Canvas: This self-guided, asynchronous orientation course for all students will be available starting one week before classes start.

Synchronous (live) orientation sessions will be offered on the Thursday and Friday before classes begin, and include:

  • Welcome address from the College President and senior administrators
  • Online student welcome and introduction to social activities options, including an online game night
  • “Navigating Online Courses” – an introduction to Canvas and how to navigate your courses
  • “Preparing for Your First Week” – an introduction to some of the most important systems and softwares you’ll be using as a Landmark student

Online orientation for families begins on the Thursday before classes start and includes:

  • Welcome address from the College President and senior administrators
  • “Supporting Your Online Student” – a session to discuss ways that families can support their students as they embark on their online studies at Landmark
  • “What to Expect in the First Semester” – a session focused on how families in general (online and off) can support their Landmark students
  • “The Academic Rhythm of the Semester” – an overview of academic demands and processes on campus, and ways the College supports neurodivergent learners.
