VT Dept. of Health conducting COVID-19 testing

The following message was emailed to the Landmark College community and officials for the town of Putney on Saturday, March 28, 2020:

Beginning Sunday, March 29, Parking Lot D (accessed from Charles Drake Lane) will be used by the Vermont National Guard to conduct drive-through COVID-19 testing for individuals with medical orders to receive a test. The request was made by the Vermont Department of Health to help ease shortages in testing capabilities in our region.

The Department of Health assures us that drive-through testing poses no risk to those who are on the Landmark College campus. Testing is done while individuals remain in their vehicles. Personnel conducting the tests will have no access to buildings on campus. The direct area of testing will be indicated by signage and traffic cones. Law enforcement officials will be present to ensure that only individuals with medical orders will receive a drive-through test; if others attempt access, they will be escorted off campus.

Students and others on the LC campus are asked to stay out of Parking Lot D for the duration of testing. Campus safety will be closing Charles Drake Lane to traffic coming from Perseverance Lane and redirecting down Robert Rhodes Lane to get off campus.

Hours of operation will be:

  • Sunday, 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The National Guard indicates testing could be conducted at this location for up to seven days.

The College’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) approved the request in an effort to help health officials “flatten the curve” of COVID-19 by providing space for such testing, similar to a site set up at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital’s parking lot. Landmark College is eager to serve this important public health cause during this unprecedented situation.

If you have questions about this or other topics related to the College’s response to COVID-19, please email [email protected].
