Spring 2018 Commencement Ceremony to be Held Saturday, May 19

Landmark College’s Spring 2018 Commencement Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 19, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Click Family Sports Center. All are welcome to attend.

Students graduating with a degree from one of our Programs of Study will be recognized at the ceremony: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science; Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies; Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art; Associate of Arts in Business; Associate of Science in Computer Science; Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies; and Associate of Science in Life Sciences.

Four academic awards will also conferred during the ceremony:

  • The President’s Award, given to the student who has best exemplified the principles we believe in here at Landmark College. The student is talented and energetic, meets difficulties head-on, works hard, and is dedicated to his or her studies. This student also finds time to contribute to the well-being of other persons and to the life of the Landmark College community as a whole.
  • The Charles Drake Award, given to a student who has inspired the community by his or her personal qualities. This student is not a quitter and lives in the tradition of Dr. Charles Drake, whose lifetime of vision and courage helped found the College. This student gives 100 percent, goes the extra mile, and perseveres in pursuit of his or her goals. This student helps the rest of us realize that we have more resources to draw upon than we think, and helps us keep going when we feel discouraged.
  • The Academic Dean's Award, given to the student who has best demonstrated the qualities that define academic success at Landmark College. These qualities include hard work, seriousness toward learning, intellectual development, and measurable achievement, such as grades.
  • The Community Service Award, given to the student who has unselfishly given of themselves to the activities of the Landmark College community.

It has been Landmark College’s tradition to allow each graduating student the opportunity to speak briefly about their own educational journey and experiences after receiving their degrees. This portion of the program provides many inspiring and emotional moments during the ceremony.

As in past years, commencement will be streamed live on YouTube by Brattleboro Community Television. A link to the live stream will be provided closer to the date, and the recorded event will be available for viewing on YouTube after graduation. DVDs will also be available for purchase.

A reception in honor of the graduates will be held on the quad immediately following the ceremony. In the event of inclement weather, the reception will be held in the Dining Hall.

The evening before graduation, Friday, May 18, a President’s Reception will be held on the quad for graduates and their families and friends from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

If you would like to watch the commencement ceremony live, there are two ways to do so this year, on Facebook or YouTube.

All questions and requests for special accommodations can be emailed to Tiffany Kerylow, executive assistant to the president, at [email protected].
