Archives Awarded National Endowment for Humanities Grant

The College Archives and the Putney Historical Society have received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for a collaborative project to benefit the preservation of the materials of Windham College, which operated in Putney from 1951-1978 and is the institution responsible for building in 1961 the beautiful campus of what is currently Landmark College.

Windham College played an important role in creating Vermont’s unique artistic and cultural character through its innovative faculty and students, many of whom would become innovators in arts and culture movements that would shape a generation. The grant will serve to fund preservation of primary sources that will enable greater access to pieces from this unique time.
