Alumni Giving

As alumni, you know—perhaps better than anyone else—that there is something extra special about a Landmark College education.

Meaningful relationships with advisors, professors, and coaches inspire lifelong learning and influence the lives of students forever.

With your Alumni Fund gift, Landmark College can continue to provide students with a solid foundation for college and for life. The Alumni Fund helps every student every day.

The Alumni Fund is a great way to:

  • Show appreciation for the experience you received at Landmark College
  • Provide students with a similar experience
  • Empower the people and programs that make Landmark College extraordinary
  • Stay connected to the College’s community
  • Most of all, change a life!

The size of your annual gift doesn’t matter, but your participation does! Landmark’s fiscal year runs from July 1 – June 30.

Thank you, alumni, for supporting the future of Landmark College.

Learn About Some Of Our Endowed Scholarship

Motivated by our earliest alumni, the Jim and Carolyn Olivier Endowed Scholarship was established during Pioneers Reunion at Homecoming 2018. The scholarship honors Jim and Carolyn Olivier, two people who were instrumental in setting our alma mater on a path toward success. We have come together in setting up a scholarship in their name and we’re asking those of you with a connection to Landmark College’s formative years to make a pledge today to help launch the fund.

This scholarship is designed to recognize the impact Jim and Carolyn had on Landmark College and the lives of those who attended or worked for the College during the Oliviers’ tenure. The award is given to a college transfer student who demonstrates perseverance, self-awareness, and a drive to learn despite his or her learning difference. In addition, the recipient should possess personal characteristics that reflect the pioneering spirit of those who lived on campus in the early years of Landmark: the intellect of Ron Marr; the adventurous spirit of April Godfrey Landale; the integrity of Roxie Bratton; the compassion and understanding of Mark Richards; and the idealism of the original 77 students.

Was John Bagge your baseball coach? Maybe he was your teacher, advisor, your basketball coach or your resident dean. Odds are that if you were at Landmark College in the last quarter century or so, you have a John Bagge story to tell. John retired from Landmark, and in honor of him and of the College’s 25th anniversary, a group of alumni decided it was long overdue to honor this wonderful man who has meant so much to so many.

Our mentor, our teacher and our friend, he saw the good in every young person, and in every instance we became better because of him. John had a quiet, easy way of calming any situation and bringing an unassuming brilliance to every problem. He was not one to get too upset or overly excited, except for the thrill of seeing you make it to class on time or finish the paper that had been haunting you for weeks. John has always been our tireless cheerleader, and now it is time we cheer a little bit for him. The John Bagge Scholarship Fund will give deserving students a leg up just like John has always done.

The Alumni Endowed Scholarship Fund, established by Landmark College’s Alumni Advisory Board in 2008, supports student success and opportunity by creating a permanent fund for scholarships, offering long-term relief for the rising costs of tuition that keeps many students from taking advantage of the unique educational opportunities offered at the College.

Supporting Landmark College’s Alumni Endowed Scholarship Fund is a tangible expression of appreciation for the educational opportunities afforded its alumni. There are many and diverse ways to give to the Alumni Endowed Scholarship Fund at Landmark College. All gifts, regardless of size, contribute to further strengthening the College’s unique and historical mission for students with learning differences.

  • Yours is a gift with an immediate and lasting impact, supporting every core component of the Landmark College experience. Each year, gifts from thousands of LC Sharks remain at the heart of our efforts to sustain our great College and ensure that Landmark continues to invest in its extraordinary students, faculty, and research.

Every alumni gift has a multiplier effect, as each contribution to the Alumni Fund has an opportunity to mean more with our unique annual alumni giving challenge. Also, every alumni gift supports the College’s reputation, as corporations, foundations, and families all use Alumni Fund participation rates to judge the College’s strength.

Like many institutions, Landmark College must rely on contributions to help cover the gap between the cost of tuition and the cost of a Landmark College education.

    Alumni Fund gifts support:

    • Scholarships for deserving students
    • Attracting and retaining respected faculty
    • Advancement of our technological infrastructure
    • Development of new academic initiatives
    • Updating laboratory equipment
    • Building library resources
    • Maintaining and enhancing campus facilities

So what does this all mean? No matter the size of your gift, it still goes a long way!

“As a recent college graduate and someone on an entry-level salary, giving back to my college is not something I thought I’d do, but I said yes! Why? Because Landmark College changed my life. I graduated from Landmark feeling as if I had a place in the world and things to contribute.” —Scout MacEachron

  • Instead of the entire amount of the gift being spent outright, the total amount of the gift is invested. Each year, only a portion of the invested income earned is spent, while the remainder is added to the original principal. An endowment is a perpetual gift, because only the earnings are used to support Landmark College, while the principal continuously grows.

Always equated with excellence and long-term strength, endowments are absolutely essential if Landmark College is to remain a leader in the education of students with learning differences. Supporting one of Landmark College’s Endowed Scholarships is a great way to link your legacy as a Landmark alumnus or alumna with the College’s future forever.
