Sarah Militz-Frielink earned a Ph.D. from University of Illinois Chicago in Curriculum and Instruction in 2017. Her research interests include Endarkened Feminist Epistemology, culturally responsive teaching, philosophy of education, and African American Studies. She is the author/co-author of four books. Two of her books--Borders, Bras, and Battles (Apprentice House, 2016) and Legacy of Action: How Dr. Geneva Gay Transformed Teaching (Apprentice House, 2023) won the Society of Professors in Education book award at the American Educational Research Association (AERA). She co-designed the exhibits and educational activities at the Carter G. Woodson National Historic Site. She has taught a wide-range of classes in higher education including courses in Black Studies, Educational Philosophy, Disability Law, and History of Education.
