Learning about the Legend of King Arthur at Glastonbury

Our journey began with a coach ride out of London through the English countryside to Glastonbury. We passed iconic Stonehenge and Salisbury Plain as our driver pointed out interesting facts about the Stonehenge pillars and the military exercises that occur on the plain.

We arrived in Glastonbury and walked up the Tor to the tower. It was a beautiful day and we saw breathtaking views of the Glastonbury landscape.

When we climbed down the Tor, we went to the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey where it is said that the graves of King Arthur and Guinevere were found. We were given a tour of the Abbey by Friar John, who was looking very good for his age as he told us that he is a 16th Century monk.

We completed our day in Glastonbury in the late afternoon and ducked into a 16th Century tea room for afternoon cream tea (tea and scones with clotted cream and jam).
