General description—
This evergreen tree was not discovered until 1862 in the Rocky mountains. This tree can grow in many soils and it needs full sun for growing and it also can’t have too much moisture when growing.
Natural distribution and habitat—
Originally from the rocky mountains and many are located in Colorado.
Conservation status—
not used in timber industry due to brittle wood, so no immediate threats.
Uses—
Wildlife uses it for food and shelter. It quickly became a popular Christmas tree and ornamental tree.
