Project: Wolves and Ranchers: A look into the conflict between conservationists and ranchers in the Northwest and what is being done to help wolves and ranchers co-exist
This multi-dimensional project looks at the complex environmental, economic, and political factors involved with the re-introduction of wolves into states in the west, including Montana and Wyoming. The project is based in advocacy for the environmental good in the re-introduction of wolves, and engages deeply with the challenges posed in the clash between wolves and the business interests of ranchers, with the goal of finding solutions that can let both wolves and commerce succeed.

Project: Building a Dog Park on Landmark’s Campus
With Landmark’s embrace of having dogs and other animals on campus, this project focuses on the rationale for creating a dog park on the campus, and what it would take to make it happen. To create the project proposal, Shoshana researched how dog parks work in various locations, and did a close study of all of the practical and logistical elements that would be involved. The underlying purpose is the sense that a dog park where people can hang out and let their dogs run free would be a good thing for the college.

Project: Building Environmentalism at Landmark: A proposal to create an apiary and a robust composting program on the college campus
This project is practical in nature and has two dimensions: the specific elements in creating an apiary at Landmark, something George worked on in collaboration with Luke, and creating a robust composting program at the college. The underlying theme is to maximize the environmental good of the campus.
Katie LaBombard
Project: Smuggle Buddies: An executive business plan
In this project, Katie is focused on creating a business model and plan for taking a product line that she does now as a cottage industry, selling to Landmark students, to the next level. Her work centers on the challenges of trying to move from a very local level to a higher one in terms of production and sales, with the attendent questions of market segment, PR and marketing, and how to ramp up a production line without losing profit. The goal is to create a sustainable small business.
Michael Margolin
Project: Relational Loss & Mortality Loss as Human Experiences
This project grows out of Michael’s work in an on-line forum for individuals who experience loss, and the working hypothesis is that there is a close relation between the grief suffered in the death of a loved one and the mourning felt when a close relationship is ended. The project is theoretical in nature, and includes the research design for a study that would test the hypothesis. The underlying purpose is to determine whether clinicians and other support workers would benefit from understanding relational loss as having some of the same features as accepted theories of the stages of grief do.
Gabrian Raphael
Project: We Have the News: The development and production of a short film at Landmark College
Gabe is using this project to make his own movie, with the goal of “making people laugh.” The project is founded on his considerable gifts as a videographer, especially as a video editor, and it is the independent culmination of years of work he has done for Landmark College in this area. Besides trying to create something that will give pleasure to the community, a main goal of the project is to bring together the skills Gabe has been using in cutting short films for various departments at the college, and also to provide other students with a sort of guide if they want to try to do the same thing.
