Courses in the natural sciences allow you to broaden your background in the physical or life sciences. They also offer concepts and ways of thinking related to the study of science. Small class sizes and numerous opportunities for laboratory and hands-on learning are key features of the Landmark College science program. In each course, you will practice the essential skills of scientific thinking: observing, asking questions, developing hypotheses, designing investigations, analyzing data, interpreting results, and drawing conclusions.
The Natural Science department promotes scientific literacy, stimulates intellectual curiosity, and fosters an understanding of the role and relevance of science in the modern world. Courses are offered in the physical and biological sciences, in which comprehension and application of abstract concepts, fluency in technical terminology, and use of mathematics are emphasized through inquiry and laboratory-based learning methods. We encourage students to critically evaluate concepts and ideas using scientific evidence that will prepare them to become informed and productive members of society.
