Director of Athletics, Fitness, & Recreation

$2,500 SIGN-ON BONUS

Landmark College seeks an experienced Director of Athletics, Fitness & Recreation to fill an upcoming vacancy. This is a 12-month, full-time, on-campus position. The Director is a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team and reports directly to the Dean of Students and Director of Student Engagement. The Director supervises the assistant director, coaches, instructors, and other personnel including student staff.

The Director provides leadership, vision, and execution of a vibrant Athletics, Fitness, and Recreation department which is a critical component of the student experience at Landmark College. The Director is responsible for program development, assessment, and strategic planning as well as building relationships with multiple constituencies on and off campus to ensure that the department is supporting the goals and learning outcomes of the department’s programs, the wellness goals of Student Affairs, and relevant parts of the College’s strategic plan. Current athletic teams include soccer, basketball, softball, baseball, cross country, and esports as well as a range of outdoor and intramural activities.

The Director will also work collaboratively with the Physical Education department chair to assist in coordinating the Physical Education courses/instructors and will serve as an adjunct instructor in the College’s Physical Education department.

This full-time, 12-month position on the Putney, Vermont campus requires a master’s degree in Sports Administration, Physical Education, Sports Science/Human Movement, Recreation, or related field or a bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience; demonstrated experience in developing, planning, and implementing programs, activities, and special events in a higher education setting.
