Academic Support Coordinator
Landmark College seeks individuals to join our dedicated team of academic advisors and support professionals. The Landmark College Coordinator of Academic Support is a full-time staff member who serves as part of a team of coordinators reporting to the Director for Academic Support and Advising. The Coordinator of Academic Support is responsible for operational and learner support for the programs and services affiliated with the Drake Center for Academic Support. These services may be offered at various locations around campus and online. The coordinator will facilitate program development, implementation, and assessment. The coordinator will also train, support, and supervise Drake Center staff and 10 – 12 student peer leaders and facilitate the best use of faculty whose academic loads include academic support. The coordinator will serve as an advisor for approximately 10 students. Academic advising at Landmark College includes developmental, academic, and career advising, executive function coaching, and just in time academic support to students throughout the calendar year both face to face and online.
Coordinators are strong communicators charged with facilitating a team approach to meeting the expectations of their specific program area. Coordinators make recommendations and provide operational and process guidance for their team members. Coordinators provide information and recommendations on budget, personnel, and programming decisions that are made by the Director for Academic Support and Advising. Coordinators also provide guidance on the development student individual academic support plans, academic intervention, and transition support. The Coordinator assists the Director in the training, development, and implementation of a holistic academic support model that integrates advising, coaching, and traditional academic support across programmatic boundaries.
The qualified candidate will have a strong understanding of learning differences, including the research basis for understanding specific learning disabilities and attention disorders, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the developmental and instructional challenges of working with students with learning differences. Experience with learning center management, assessment, and associated student outcomes with retention and persistence programs. Ability to assess a student’s academic need and provide appropriate intervention or referral. Knowledge of coaching and academic intervention techniques and experience with advising. Experience using technology for the administration of service (online scheduling tools, Microsoft Office Suite, computers, tablets, phones, printers, copy machines, etc.) as well as experience with assistive educational technologies. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational skills and proficiency/comfort working with online communication tools is required. This is a salaried and exempt position which requires a willingness to occasionally work weekends and after-hours.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s degree in a related field, and experience in academic support and/or developmental education programs in a higher education environment. Ability to provide direction/supervision to center staff, complete administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner, and strong commitment to lifelong learning. Knowledge of faculty and/or peer models of academic support.
