Universal Design for Online Instruction: A Work in Progress
To date minimal studies have been done on how the principles for universal design for instruction (UDI) are utilized in the online learning environment. And yet, the nature of online instruction offers ample opportunity to apply these principles in ways that can reach large and varied audiences of learners. In this session, Annesa Hartman, instructional designer for the Landmark College Institute for Research and Training (LCIRT) provides an overview of UDI and practical examples of how the UDI principles have been directly applied to LCIRT's online course offerings for educators. Also covered will be an overview of LCIRT's process for assessing and evaluating the practical usability of these instructional designs.
