Interest Form: Workshops, Regional Institutes, and Partnering with LCIRT

2. Assistive Technology—Participants will learn how to use assistive technology software to support students in reading, writing, and study skills, and how to integrate assistive technology with learning strategies in order to enrich and enhance the education of students with learning disabilities.
3. Executive Functioning and Coaching Techniques—Participants will practice implementing coaching approaches to a whole class setting, small group, or one-on-one session through curriculum design, lesson planning, and advising or meeting session planning activities.
4. Website Accessibility—Participants will learn techniques for assessing and improving website usability and accessibility by engaging in repairing an existing site.
5. Universal Design for Instruction—Participants will explore research-based best practices for universal design for instruction and practice implementing these concepts by engaging in curriculum, lesson, and meeting design through individual and group work as well as engaging in discussion and constructing outline drafts for implementing universal approach ideas into their own departments/institutions.
6. Supporting Reading, Writing, and Study Skills—Participants will receive examples of how to develop reading comprehension with text-to-speech software, note-taking strategies with technology assistance, technology tools to support time management and organization of materials, and the technologies that support the writing process.
7. Autism Spectrum Disorders—Participants will explore and create strategies for support, and will consider the neurological aspects of ASD in order to understand why some classroom environments just don't work for ASD students and to acknowledge those environments that do.
8. Teaching Math—Participants will engage in activities that demonstrate how to incorporate mathematics study skills into the curriculum, receive examples of ways to integrate writing into mathematics courses, and review ways to foster in mathematics students an understanding of themselves through metacognitive exercises and how students can modify how they approach math courses for better success.
9. College Transitions—Participants will explore models of first year programming that support students in their transition to the postsecondary environment, investigate the importance of institutional climate in promoting success for at-risk students, and develop approaches for creating systems of support within their current institution.
10. Workforce Transitions—Participants will explore strategies for engaging employees, technologies to support employees, and employee/employer rights and responsibilities as outlined by disability law to come away with an understanding of strategies to retain and support employees with learning disabilities and/or ADHD.
11. Wilson Reading System—This Wilson Introductory Workshop is a 15-hour workshop that provides the practice and guidance needed to effectively begin implementing the Wilson Reading System, and it fulfills the prerequisite for the Level I certification program.
