The First Year Experience: Partial Credit Curriculum
For students who need a one-semester blend of non-credit and credit skill development courses and assistive technology instruction before moving into the credit curriculum.
The Partial Credit curriculum requires students to take a non-credit writing course, a credit First Year Seminar course, and two electives—one non-credit and one credit. In addition, students are introduced to assistive technology strategies to help improve reading comprehension, fluency, written expression, and organization of ideas. Students with reading disorders and ADHD often benefit from learning and using assistive technology to become more effective and efficient learners.
About Assistive Technology
At Landmark we know that students with reading disorders and ADHD often benefit from learning and using assistive technology. Students are able to work one-on-one with an Assistive Technology Specialist to improve reading fluency, reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and writing skills.
About Our Network of Support Services
The First Year Program at Landmark exposes students to the many support people on campus to help them face their learning challenges and to become more aware of themselves as learners. Students are encouraged to utilize the professional support offered through the Drake Center for Academic Support (DCAS), Coaching, Counseling, Advising, and office hours with professors.
