SUMMARY:Henry David Thoreau: The Theatre of the Natural World
DESCRIPTION:Henry David Thoreau lived in a cabin on Walden Pond for two
years\, two months and two days. His stay began on July 4th\,
1845. Recently Dr. Robert Fay\, Professor of English at Landm
ark College\, completed a personal journey that required the
same length of time — and began on July 4\, 2009. His inten
t was to visit all of the regions of New England that were o
f special interest to Thoreau — and to see them through th
e eyes of the famous naturalist and writer.\n\n	He identified
five regions: Walden Woods\, the Monadnock Region\, Cape Cod\,
the White Mountains and the Maine Woods. He relied on all of
his knowledge and sense of Thoreau in order to determine th
e nature of his perception of the natural world around him.
The photographs that resulted from the visits represent the
theatre of the natural world. They encourage the viewer to s
ee\, understand and interpret the inner dramas that exist wit
hin the natural world and within each image.\n\n	On Tuesday\, N
ovember 20\, 2012\, you'll have the opportunity to accompany
Dr. Fay as he recounts his adventure through a presentation
and discussion of the photographs taken during his journey o
f discovery.  The program will be offered by The Audubon So
ciety of Southern Vermont and held at the Brooks Memorial Li
 brary\, 224 Main Street in Brattleboro\, Vermont\, at 7 p.m.
