The Philosophy Behind Our Curriculum

Our curriculum allows students to develop and practice academic skills and strategies in a way that builds from semester to semester. We believe in presenting high expectations while operating at the level where each student is prepared to learn and succeed.


Points of Entry

Our students are intelligent and have great potential, but some are not yet ready for college-level coursework. Placement testing helps determine the best starting point for each student. All Landmark College students must have a diagnosed learning disability.

The four basic points of entry for Landmark students are:

  • Landmark students collaborateExecutive Function Curriculum (Bridge Semester) provides short-term, intensive support to visiting college students who are struggling in their studies. Students earn credit while acquiring executive functioning skills and strategies needed to successfully return to their home college.
  • Language Intensive Curriculum (LIC), a non-credit path for students with significant difficulties in reading and writing, combines direct instruction in language skills with the use of technology.
  • Partial Credit Curriculum gives students the opportunity to work on essential writing skills without credit, while also taking two courses for college credit.
  • Credit Curriculum allows students who are ready to begin college studies in full-credit classes.

Degree Programs

Our accredited associate degree program sets high standards for academic performance, allowing graduates to transfer to colleges of their choice — and succeed. Our curriculum enables students to develop and practice academic skills and strategies in a way that builds from semester to semester. We believe in presenting high expectations while operating at the level where each student is prepared to learn and succeed.

Students who graduate from Landmark College earn an Associate of Arts (AA) degree. Students can choose from degree tracks in General Studies, Liberal Arts, Business Studies and Business Administration.

Summer Programs

Landmark College Summer Program class outside Landmark offers three Summer Programs to help students discover and practice academic skills and strategies that improve their ability to learn. Students are not required to have a diagnosed learning disability to participate in summer programs.

  • High School Summer Program teaches rising juniors and seniors skills they can apply in high school, including formal instruction in assistive technology.
  • Transition to College Program prepares recent high school graduates for their all-important first semester in college.
  • Visiting College Students can earn up to six credits during the summer session while developing effective learning skills and strategies they can apply at their college.
