“After graduating from high school a year early, I enrolled in junior college. Despite my great high school grades,  I flunked out due to poor writing and time management skills. A family friend referred me to Landmark, where I earned my degree and then went for my baccalaureate at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Our family friend was actually a Landmark graduate. When he enrolled here, he was functionally illiterate; today, he’s a respected teacher working with students with learning disabilities. He’s one of Landmark’s many success stories. Part of my job is working with the President’s Alumni Advisory Board, where I have the opportunity to interact with graduates who have achieved great things in their careers.

I’ll always remember how awful it was to fail junior college.. Often, the prospective students I meet say they’re ‘just surviving.’ They can’t let themselves see beyond the here and now. Their focus is on the obstacles right in front of them — like passing an exam or making it out of high school.
