Primary Goal: Develop an understanding of the intersection 
of humans and ecosystems  

  • First-hand exploration of ecosystems and people’s interactions with those systems
  • Hands-on experience working with local people and organizations on community projects
  • Methods include readings, lectures, discussions, writing, guided reflection and visual journaling

Special Considerations

  • Living and working conditions are comfortable but  
    rustic
  • Service learning projects involve some labor
  • Physical fitness required for vigorous hikes
