Business

Mission

The Business Program at Landmark College provides students with opportunities to learn and grow, while participating in courses taught by a qualified and dedicated faculty utilizing a variety of instructional methods to enhance the learning experience of individuals who learn differently.

The courses offered in the Business Program lead toward the award of either an A.A. in Business Administration or A.A. in Business Studies. The Business Programs' Professional Business Core provides students with a basic understanding of the business environment, management theory, marketing, and accounting practices. The specific requirements of each major allow students to select a course of study that prepares them to seek entry-level managerial positions or to transfer to a four-year institution as business majors.  Additionally, Landmark’s Business Programs follow the guidelines established by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), of which Landmark is an educational member.

The Business Department also offers a Business Concentration within the College's General Studies and Liberal Studies Associate Degrees.  The Business Concentration allows students to focus on business while building a foundation of academic skills.

Department Awards

The Business Program gives an award each year to the student that demonstrates progress in the Business Program.  This student must be a declared business degree student but is not based on GPA and is not a graduating business student.  Demonstrating progress can include correcting attendance issues, automatizing Landmark skills into business course material, or just successfully completing a business course, perhaps after struggles.

The Business Program at Landmark College is affiliated with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (known as ACBSP).  ACBSP has created a student leadership award and is the only accrediting body for business schools that offers such an award for presentation.  The criteria for this award is not determined by ACBSP, but by individual campuses.  The Landmark College Business Program criteria for this award are as follows:

  • The student must be a graduating business student who has demonstrated leadership in the community (College or Local).
  • The graduating business student has demonstrated academic excellence by achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The award is presented during the Fall and Spring Commencement exercises. The student will receive a plaque and their name will be inscribed on a perpetual plaque maintained in the Business Studies Bulletin Board.
