Notebook Program

Landmark College has been running a notebook program since 2002, making it possible for students to participate in the advantages technology brings to the learning process.

A notebook computer provides you with easy, wireless connectivity in classrooms and campus areas. Not only will you have 24-hour access to course information and the Internet, you will also have a portable means of utilizing assistive technology. Put simply, your notebook will support anytime, anywhere access to resources and services in a learning environment that extends to the entire campus.

The Notebook Package is an extremely attractive option. Landmark College has made special agreements with Lenovo & GovConnection, allowing us to secure a powerful notebook computer model at a reduced price. Also included in the Notebook Package are the Landmark software bundle(Kurzweil 3000 Read, Inspiration, Microsoft Office Professional), a bag, insurance protection against theft, and an extended warranty that covers accidental damage.

Why do I need a notebook computer?

All students entering in the fall or spring are required to have a notebook computer that meets certain specifications. (Students attending only the summer sessions are not required to bring a notebook computer.) You may choose to bring a notebook from home or purchase a notebook from Landmark. Notebooks purchased through Landmark College will be supported 100% by the Tech Support Center on campus.

Am I required to purchase the Landmark College Notebook Package?

No. You are simply required to have a notebook computer. All students entering in the Fall or Spring Semesters must have a notebook computer.
We strongly recommend the Notebook Package to meet this requirement for the following reasons
:

  • You'll get your computer with all of the software already loaded (including the Novell network client and the GroupWise email client).
  • We have a certified Lenovo repair center right on campus — we can do repairs, place insurance claims, and reinstall your software if you ever need it: and there is no need for boxes & shipping charges.
  • Should you need repairs at any time, we'll loan you another notebook while we're repairing yours.
  • We provide a full orientation to the notebook when you arrive.
  • If you do choose to bring your own notebook, you must make sure it meets the minimum specifications, including wireless capability.

How do I purchase the Notebook Package?

Complete our online Notebook Package Order Form. After you submit the form:

  1. Landmark's Tech Support Services will confirm your order with you by email.
  2. We will order the notebook computer and load the software.
  3. The cost of the computer will be charged to your student account.
  4. Payment can be made via check or by using QuikPay on the college website.
  5. Students will receive their computers during Technology Orientation on campus.

What are the minimum requirements if I choose to purchase another notebook?

If you choose to obtain a notebook computer on your own, it must meet our minimum required specifications. You will also need to purchase the Landmark College software bundle, which costs $250.
