OPEN POSITIONS:

ACADEMIC DEAN

The Academic Dean is responsible for those aspects of the academic programs and services of Landmark College relating to curriculum and the requirements of the degree programs, including managing academic operations and the development and administration of academic policies and regulations. The Dean develops, implements, and adheres to an annual academic budget. The Dean provides strong leadership and direction to the academic department chairs, students, academic staff, and the faculty as a whole, working collaboratively with senior administration, faculty, and staff to shape a vision for the College within the mission and strategic plan of Landmark College. The Dean promotes an environment supportive of teaching excellence and facilitates the development, review, and revision of academic curricula, assuring quality and relevancy, playing a leadership role in defining and promoting effective instructional practices for students with learning differences. The Dean provides leadership and direction for faculty in the process of applying for promotion and reappointment.

Essential qualifications include an earned Doctorate in a relevant discipline and a progressive record of accomplishment in teaching and educational administration. Demonstrated experience in using the best principles and practices in higher education, particularly in the areas of curriculum and education program development, assessment, and implementation is needed. Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, ability to facilitate and lead group processes and to make professional presentations to different audiences is required. Strong leadership and managerial skills are necessary, as is demonstrated creative accomplishment in the area of academic program development and administration. Candidates with experience in research and grant development preferred. Must possess or develop a familiarity with the challenges facing students with learning disabilities and AD/HD.

RESEARCH SERVICES LIBRARIAN

The Research Services Librarian provides user-centered reference and instruction services. Other responsibilities include working with other librarians to provide integrated and innovative library instruction using a variety of strategies and instructional technologies; developing and maintaining a close working relationship with faculty, staff, and students; partnering with faculty to develop increasing levels of student information literacy; providing research and professional development support for faculty and staff; and individually and collaboratively developing the Library’s collections. The Research Services Librarian position includes working one evening per week.

Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program; excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; ability and enthusiasm to work collaboratively with others; demonstrated ability to provide library instruction and reference services; a current knowledge of print and electronic resources and of the application of technology to the design and delivery of research services. Above all, the successful candidate must possess the capacity for working flexibly and creatively in a student-centered environment. Preferred Qualifications: experience working with individuals with a variety of learning styles; experience teaching groups using a variety of instructional technologies.

MATHEMATICS FACULTY

The Mathematics Faculty position will carry the title of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, in line with the College’s standards for Faculty Rank and Promotion. The successful candidate will instruct nine credit hours (three courses a semester) in Mathematics per semester, fall and spring. The Mathematics and Computer Studies Department is seeking a candidate whose primary teaching responsibilities include teaching Developmental Mathematics courses through Statistics and Calculus. Candidates with a demonstrated knowledge of mathematics and the use of effective and innovative Mathematics pedagogy are highly desired. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high quality classroom instruction and participating in the development of curriculum and pedagogical practices consistent with the mission and goals of the College. Other desirable characteristics include familiarity with principles of universal design for instruction and learning, and a demonstrated commitment to continuing growth as an educator. The anticipated start date for the position is fall 2010.

QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires a minimum of a Master’s degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education, with a PhD in Mathematics Education preferred. Excellent communication, organizational, and management skills are critical. Experience and an understanding of the nature of specific learning disabilities and attention disorders is a plus.
