Welcome!

We hope that this collection of resources will serve as an overview to the founding and development of the first college in the country to be founded exclusively for students with dyslexia, AD/HD, and other learning disabilities.

Please explore this digital introduction to Landmark College's earliest days through a variety of resources that document the history of the College, including: news clippings, photographs, video, audio, and other material.

What's New?

Windham College Newspapers Digitization Project

Windham College newspaper, The Lion's Roar

In conjunction with the Windham Alumni Association and the Putney Historical Society, the College Archives continues with the newspaper digitization project begun last semester to index and digitize Windham College's newspaper The Lion's Roar, which later became the Windham Free Press. (Windham College was the original occupant of the Landmark College campus from 1961 to its closing in 1978.) Issues in the Archives as well as the Putney Historical Society are beginning to deteriorate, and digitization seems the best way to preserve this unique publication.  Its pages give firsthand accounts of college life in the 1960s and 1970s.

Acknowledgement

It would not have been possible to create this site without the assistance of many people who shared their memories and gave so generously of their time.  Each and every person contributes his or her own vision, talents, and gifts to this community, and while this digital version of the Archives tries to show a view of the College since its founding, it could never do justice to the students, faculty, and staff that have made Landmark College what it is today.  Special thanks to founding faculty member, Dan Toomey, whose eloquence is evident throughout this site in the excerpts taken from Landmark College: A Short History of the First Twenty-Five Years.
